"How Far Will Sun's Revenge Go?"

A lot depends on the information Sun gets from Locke after he visits them.
I kind of think that Widmore is the other person besides Paik that Sun holds responsible for Jin's "death", or their separation, since it was his search and destroy mission that brought on the mercs. That would make the coy merger that she's doing with him all the more poetic in application, in the vein of "keeping your enemies closer", before she destroys him financially or whatever. Or, Locke could use the info of why the freighter blew up to get Sun mad enough to go back and do whatever it is that Locke needs them to do. But if she finds out about what happened in the Orchid, she could go after Ben off-island instead. Then the path of vengeance-begetting-vengeance becomes the theme of her sad future too -- that is, with Ben killing Keamy and blowing up the freighter to avenge Alex, then Sayid killing to avenge Nadia, Sun killing Ben to avenge Jin, and who knows what else in Seasons 5 and 6. (Quite frankly I hope that all the killing on this show starts to wind down soon!)

Hopefully Sun merely wants to mentally and financially twist the b@lls of the guys who are responsible for separating her from Jin (like the coup of her father's business, rather than killing him) and doesn't end up lowering herself to committing murder like those she feels are responsible. Even though she defended herself well against Colleen on the sailboat (most likely due to being pregnant making her even more defensive), up to this point I don't think that Sun is a killer per se, but you never know with this show. Most of the characters are turning tail on their own personalities, for good and bad and crazy, ever since they got to the island.

Even if Sun didn't meet with Locke she should know from that week on Penny's boat everything that Desmond and Sayid learned about Widmore and his mission. You'd think all of the O6 should assume that Widmore had planned to have them all killed.

As for her plan now, I'm not sure. I also think she still blames Jack for Jin's death and the life of lies she's forced to live now. That comes off strongly at the end of Ji Yeon when Hurley but no one else comes to meet baby girl Kwan.

And Sun is getting a taste of playing the game on the global scale that her father and Widmore and possibly Ben moves on. I think she's escalated things to a plane above and beyond anything the rest of the O6 could achieve. Sayid is also playing on that scale, but as a mere Keamy-esque henchman, not the man or woman behind the curtain.

Right, your first paragraph is why I lean towards thinking she's after Wid too (but as usual, I'm not glued to that theory). :-)

Good point about Sun's new power and influence. It would be interesting if the O6ers all end up leaning on her to manipulate their return. Although, where Ben fits into that I can't imagine. But as long as she doesn't know about his little, "So what?", she might cooperate with him too.

Tho, I can see Ben saying something like,"OK, I admit, I blew up the freighter, but Jin's still alive and if you want to see him again you'll cooperate with me now." That is, if Jin is still alive.

Even though we know Sun can pull a trigger, I think she is much better at manipulation (ala Ben) to get what she wants. We know she's a good liar (The Glass Ballerina), and keeps a secret (learning English, having an affair and planning on leaving Jin). I think that whatever she has in store for Widmore involves ruining him (not killing him). She already overtook her father and got him where it hurts...monetarily! She seems to take great satisfaction in that.

Right Maven, maybe she knows that the saying "dyin' is too good for 'em" is really true. :-)

I kind of had Jack figured as the other man she held responsible, but Widmore would work too.

Paik because he put them on the plane to the island in the first place and Jack because he really could have waited another 20 seconds for Jin I thought. And she was actively begging Jack to wait for him. And Jack stopped Kate from going to get him. . .

But Widmore was the reason the boat and the C4 were there at all, so I can see it being him too.

Actually, there were lots of people that played a role in getting him killed:

Jack wouldn't have gotten on the chopper without Kate so if she'd insisted on going after Jin, Jack would have held the chopper.

If Juliet hadn't put them on the Zodiac, they might have been okay.

If Ben hadn't killed Keamy.

If Hurley hadn't been off with Locke, the alpha male gang could have had the chopper ready to take off before Keamy's men even got there to shoot up the fuel tank. . .

Poor Jin, the whole universe was conspiring against him.

Good points.

Oh, I have nooo problem putting Jack in the hotseat for Sun's target! :-D He deserves it all the way around, especially for bringing the Mercs to the island with the phonecall...even tho he had no idea that they were bad, or tht he should believe Ben at that moment.

The weird thing is, if Widmore's boat of death hadn't gotten to the island, Jin would be alive, but Sun and Ji Yeon would not be. That little famliy got the short straw no matter how they pulled it. :-(

I still think she holds Jack more responsible (Widmore less so), because of Jack's bullheadedness throughout the nine days of the freighter being offshore. Also, it seems as if Jack and the others never came to see Sun because of Hurley's comment as to "if anyone else showed up," though he might also have been refering to Locke/Benthem visiting Walt and the other O6ers. She'll manipulate Widmore, but I think she'll do the same with Jack (not in a bad way, more to get back at Ben and/or Widmore). I think what she WILL do is contingent on if Jin is still alive and if she KNOWS it (through Locke).

Wow, I like your ideas about what Hurley meant Wayne. I've never allowed myself to speculate too much about that, since it could have been any reason at that point. But the more info we get, certain things seem plausible, like what you mention.

It would kind of be the way of TPTB to make it Jack that Sun is going to get back. Everyone would be, "No! Not hero Jack!" :-D

Hey, Capcom & everyone else. This past year more than any other, I kept track in my head of certain comments or events, because we really didn't know the order of the flashfwds. For example, at first I couldn't see why Mr. Paik wasn't there for Yi Jeon's birth, but now we know its because of Sun's hostile takeover. So it was the same with Hurley's comment, because it just seemed out of context, him being relieved no one else showed up, not just for going to Jin's grave but particularly that Sun didn't Locke/Benthem.

Wayne, One of the features on the S4 DVDs is supposed to be a chronology of the flashes. You'll get to see if you were right. :-)

Really Memphish?! Excellent! :-D

Thanks for the info, Memphish. I almost want to say they played in reverse order, Sun in summer 06, Sayid in autumn of 05, Jack's beard growth, ha ha.
