"A Juliet WCM For A Poster"

In spite of a few water cooler moments given to Juliet, it seems doubtful that she will get a poster all to herself. But if she did, her encounter with Smokey might make a great subject. She stood up to Smokey better than most of the guys when she and Kate were getting chased by it. Not only did she seem to be fairly confident in the banyan tree when Smokey was scanning the women, but she showed her usual island gutsiness at the sonic fence as well -- most likely due to the familiarity with Smokey that she gained as an insider in Otherville.

Why this seems like a Juliet WCM for me, is because it embodies the complete 180' turn that her personality made after she came to the island, possibly exhibiting what's known as "Pissed-Off Passive Syndrome" (which I can very much relate to after 32 years at IBM). Pre-Island, she couldn't even stand up to her Ex when he brought his Honey into the lab not even caring if Juliet would see them. She actually hunkered down on the ground hiding from them behind lab equipment. Then well beyond the supposed end of her term with the Others, she stands on her feet going toe-to-toe (if Smokey has toes) with some kind of unworldly monster. It would have made an interesting poster-worthy moment, IMHO.

hello, briefly. Juliet's encounter with Smokey can surely be seen in a new light given the ending of Season 5. If Smokey incorporates the drilling equipment, why not 1977 Juliet. Therefore, what Juliet saw in the monster and what the monster saw in Juliet was herself/itself. IMHO.

Hi LT! You know that's a great point, and yesterday I was thinking about what Smokey would know about Juliet's 1977 as well. Although Miles told Hurley that they didn't remember their 1977 experiences because they hadn't happened to them yet, would 2004 Smokey know about their 1977? He's been on the island all along, he might know about that too, depending on how time affects him.

Hey capcom
I like your depiction of a Juliet WCM, very nice.

Dropped by to wish you an early Happy Birthday for tomorrow. It would probably get buried in the posts at LostARGS if I posted it there (which I probably will if I remember) I have to be out tomorrow morning but should be back for the reveal.
Have a great Birthday!!

Awww, thank you Sayidsgirl!! Yes, a poster reveal on my birthday, only thing better would be if I was able to buy it, haha. But that's OK, I passed, I knew that my old computer could not compete. I'm actually going to buy some of the prints of the paintings in the show I like them a lot better, like the Black Rock, and the Swan mural. And they are half the price of the fancyschmancy posters. The dog poster gives me the creeps though, it looks like the back end of his body is cut off, haha.

I do hope that a Sayid poster comes up for you though, it would be a crime if it didn't!

Hey Capcom! Thanks for the note over on my blog the other day. I miss having something other than the posters to talk about. I think they're interesting, but they don't really go with my decorating scheme. I'm trying to get rid of things, not add to the unnecessary junk my house is filled with. :-) Since I have no fear that none of the releases will be around here, I'm content just to read Zort's posts. He's doing a fantastic job.

S6 will be here soon. The holidays make things fly. I'm bittersweet about things right now. I want to know what happens, but the fact that it's the end leaves me nostalgic.

Hi Memphish! Great to hear from you! I know, the poster thing is not really like the past ARGs, and it's getting ugly with greed out there due to the limited supply. Not pretty or fun, IMHO. But Zort is indeed doing a great job of it.

I'm with you, I'm looking to lighten the load as well. I got one poster, and I'm satisfied with that one. I may purchase a print of the Swan mural or the Black Rock painting that are available, but not the dog painting it gives me the creeps for some reason. Anyway, those prints mean more to me because they were in the show, rather than new art made by contemporary poster artists that I don't much care about.

Here's looking forward to S6 and all the LoCos getting back together once more! :-)

I expected ugly with greed from the beginning, Capcom. A good many of the writers I know get a book published through a specialty press, the book is then effectively sold out before anyone on the street (as it is) can buy a copy. I don't know why this needs to be, considering the money cow LOST is already, and I'd think more than 50 copies of each would have been nice.

Ah well. And Happy Birthday, by the way. I'm the kind f person that remembers about three weeks after the fact...

Hi. Looking to contact you direct. Where?

Oh, man. I need to come back here more often.

I've been thinking a lot about Juliet's character during the Hiatus. She was written in contrast to Kate's character. Juliet character is focused on life, birth, where there was none. Handcuffed to Kate and trapped by Smokey needs a second look. Do they represent the same thing? Does Smokey recognize Juliet and realizing that she will indeed be a factor in 1977 (birth day of Smokey?) birth of Ethan.

Happy Birthday, Capcom

Aw, thanks for the birthday wishes, friends!

Wow, Wayne, that's weird marketing if I'm understanding you correctly. I would never guess that TPTB would do it the way that they have (knowing how many rabid fans that they have after all!) but once the first-come-first-served thing began with limited prints even, well, it's all downhill from there. Ugh.

Very good points about Juliet LT, I like it. It seemed like there was a lot more to say with Juliet. For nothing else than wider character development, I wish that Lost was going on for longer than 6 seasons.

I'm at geminititan2@yahoo.com.

Yep, Capcom, you got it right. I don't know if the prints were numbered and/or signed, but with books, I can name at least ten publishers that will print up 100 copies and 26 signed, and pretty much sell them for the same ridiculous price as the posters. Sadly, its the people who buy the items that cause the cycle to keep going. And, as with people who bought several posters to sell on eBay, the same goes for the novels. In regards to the specialty presses, they wouldn't be around if it wasn't for gluttonous Borders.

LT, I'm at jonalgiers@aol.com, in case you wanted to know, as well. I don't think I gave you my business card at the Zap2Locke event. Interesting take on Kate/Juliet.

These posters are numbered and signed, which is nice but....

The feeding frenzy element created here results in a lot bad feelings. I'm hoping that the final "Red ?" print will be in the many thousands, so everyone that would like one could purchase one. That would be great, but I doubt that will happen.
