"I'm Just Saying - #1"

This is the first of a few posts where I'm just going to express the thoughts that I got while watching the finale. Thoughts like, what an aspect of the show reminded me of in a cinematic, literary, biblical, philosophical, or whatever, connection. I don't want to read too much (or sometimes anything) into what the scene brought to my mind. It's just a bubble of thought that rose to the surface of my fermenting Lost brain.

For instance, the minute Juliet began to go for the bomb, it reminded me of the scene in "Beneath The Planet Of The Apes" where Taylor makes his last dying act -- one that sets off the bomb to destroy the waring apes and mutants, and put an end to the madness. Oddly enough before he does it Zaius tells him, "Man is evil, capable of nothing but destruction," similar to what the MIB told Jacob on the beach. I'm just sayin'. :o)

So we wait for Season 6, when the monkeys arrive on the shores of the island in their crashed ship, just like all the other shipwrecked arrivals before them. Adam and Eve are Cornelius and Zira. :o)

BTW, credits should be given to where I got the images:

Hey,

Planet of the Apes is closer to Lost than Star Trek. However, Juliet is NOT dead. If you read my blog this year (sorry I've been so lax), Jughead is a dud. The flash we saw is another time change, and the people who are coming are Jack and Co.

Great pictures Capcom!!

Also,

I still think Christian Shepard is the key to the whole thing. Call me crazy, but that's my theory, and I'm stickin to it (until proved wrong - which is almost always the case).

Hey PGT! That's what I'm thinking (hoping) too, that it's another energy flash from the magnetism pocket and not the bomb exploding, and that Juliet isn't dead! I think that there are all of two of us who think that. :o)

Now, EM is on that new V series, but it wouldn't be the first time that an actor straddled two TV shows at the same time (e.g., Heather Locklear in the '80s). So here's hoping that she'll have at least a few more Lost eps coming up and that Sawyer can be happy too (and not have to go back to Kate).

It would indeed seem that CS is pivotal, or why would he always be there on the island? Even if he is dead and it's really the MIB, there must be some reason why MIB has taken a liking to CS's appearance/body.

I'm glad that you restarted posting on your blog again, I'll go take a peek! :-)

you know i'm hoping Juliet is still alive BUT to be with Jack not Sawyer since she's carrying Jack’s baby (the part we didn't see after Juliet barged into Jack taking a shower)

ok, maybe not but it could make an interesting story

i have no idea who/what on island CS is no matter which shoes he is wearing

Greg Tramel said...

but yeah, I know if Juliet is really preggers that fall could have been detrimental

anyway, timeflash instead of bomb works for me

Capcom said...

LOL, the shower! X-D

For sure, that would really be a miracle baby after surviving all of that! (cue up the Starchild from 2001...daaa...daaa...daaaa...DA-DAAAA...boomboomboomboomboomboom!))

:o)

S2 opened in the Hatch with Desmond's eye opening and S5 ended in the Hatch with someone's eye opening. From the photos you posted, Juliet certainly looks gravely wounded. I think that the flash coinciding with Jacob burning and his "They're coming" line makes sense, but that still leaves Juliet near death, even if they are sucked to 2007. Could Jacob heal her (if he is still alive) the way he healed Locke and Ilana? Is she needed to be a player in the coming war?

Capcom said...

I hope that she'll be there. But like PGT said on her blog, if the bomb went off it would not only kill Juliet (although she has got to have SOME serious internal injuries!) but all of the Losties at the site. So I guess that we can count on something transporting them away from the site and into the future. Let's hope!

Wayne Allen Sallee said...

Oh, I'm agreeing with PGT, Capcom. Just saying, unlike unconscious Jack, Juliet seemed pretty banged up internally. Going by what Faraday says, if they go fwd to 2007, then 1977 was still their past. Juliet still fell down that shaft. Maybe.

Capcom said...

Right! And quite frankly, I had a difficult time believing that she survived, not the fall even, but that huge metal structure falling down the hole after her. WTH?!

Wayne Allen Sallee said...

The metal structure might have gotten stuck, I think the point was that she let go of Sawyer's grip so that he wouldn't get crushed. If there is a time flash, she could just be gone much like Charlotte disappeared on Faraday.

They caused the Incident to happen, maybe by making Radzinsky panic and not think his exotic matter thing through, the white out is a different thing. Perhaps it took Jacob to say "They're coming" to actually fulfill the flash. He and MIB certainly seem to know a lot of the Island's history, past, present, and future all at the same time.

synchrobrarian said...

Wayne, I REALLY LIKE the idea of Jacob saying they're coming causing the whiteout, Jacob’s version of a failsafe key

we have no proof, IMHO, that Jughead was even detonated

Wayne Allen Sallee said...

I agree, SL. The Incident itself was not Jughead, it was the exotic energy pocket. My guess is everyone in S6 is in 2007, but it will take 3-4 episodes for everyone to be on the same page.

If Jacob can "call" them and cause the whiteout, it adds to my belief that Jacob/MIB know past, present, future in some form, and that Jacob caused the whiteout a moment before Juliet whacked Jughead that last time, so that nothing happened in 1977.

Capcom said...

Wow, great ideas gents. Maybe even Jacob's death caused a failsafe event.

It does also seem as if MIB doesn't know everything that Jacob knows, because didn't he (Flocke) answer, "Who's coming?" or something like that?

Tess315 said...

So maybe the loophole was not only to be able to kill Jacob, but to keep the 06 and company from returning to the present.

"They're coming". MIB seemed a little peeved at that comment. As if maybe after all that work his loophole didn't work. Or at least work completely.

Tess315 said...

BTW don't ask me why. But I get the feeling that Ilana is in a future beyond 2007 when Jacob comes to see her in that hospital.

That she is currently fighting the war that is about to happen in 2007.

I know crazy. But I get the feeling that all the off island Jacob stuff is after the crash of 815. That it happens in the future. Which I know doesn't make since especially with Nadia's death.

I don't know. I just don't think his visits are in 2004 before the crash. Maybe a different timeline if it changes.

Capcom said...

That'a a very interesting thought, SG! There might be more than one aspect to MIB's loophole.

It's entirely possible that Jacob's visit to Ilana could be in the future. As we know, his visits weren't confined to pre-815 only, they also occurred post-815 and pre-316. Perhaps he's comforting her after what happens on the island? Mabye even in thanks to her for her help? :-o I forget if what he said to her would allow that to be a possibility. But wouldn't it be something if TPTB have already showed us something that happened after the big war?! Because if her face is messed up badly in some way, it sure looks OK now. I wouldn't put it past them, those sneaky PTBs. :o)
